Appears to work ok, but I was sold a USED unit as NEW

The set-up and operation of this unit are just fine, but at first I was a little worried that it might not work well, is re-conditioned, as it dit not arrive in the standard Motorola Packaging shown.
The other Reason why I believe it is extremely likely that this is a USED or RE-CONDITIONED unit - THAT HAD BEEN SOLD TO ME AS NEW - is that beyond coming in a just a plain brown wrapper, the Serial # (which I needed to provision the Modem) had an area that was faded and very hard to read. I could only decipher it with a very powerful magnifying glass and reading glasses. If this modem had been BRAND NEW - AS ADVERTISED, I believe that the Serial # would have been printed solid with any part of it fading. I feel cheated, that I sold a used Modem, and would prefer to get my money back or a BRAND NEW UNIT as shown!
Having said that, I was in a big hurry to get internet service, so I set it up, and after I provisioned it with my ISP (RCN) it started working immediately.
My only other question/concern is that I also bought an ITP Router at AMAZON that enjoys excellent reviews, yet my service has only barely been adequate... not excellent. In fact, too often, the connection is just too slow!!!
I am not sure if the problem is with this used Modem, the Router, or the ISP.... so if I ever find out why my service is not excellent, I will post the results here.
I bought this used from Amazon.com. It works like new. Setup was easy. Been using for more than 6 months and no problems so far. Would definitely recommend to buy this mode.
Good product, but comcast sucks

Works well for Comcast. the issue is that you need to call comcast customer support and have them register your unit before it's useful... and you can imagine how that can go!!
As Good As New

I bought this product [second hand] to replace the identical one I received from Comcast with my high speed internet service. They were charging me $5 extra a month. It works great just like the original. No extra charges.
Works like a snap

The modem installation was quick and easy. All that was needed was a call to comcast to activate it. Even though it's refurb it looks like new. I am glad i bought this instead of paying $5 per month as modem rental!
Quick Savings

Comcast raised its rates to rent their modem so I bought this "used" one. It arrived quickly with no problem using Amazon's free shipping option. I plugged in the modem, coordinated with Comcast on the phone to program in the serial number and it worked right away. It will pay for itself in less than six months.

Inadequate

This product does not work properly. I have to reboot the modem at least 2-3X a day as the connection is constantly lost. It was cheap, but still a waste of my money.
Better than renting!

I purchased this after receiving my first internet cable bill and discovered that I was being charged for renting the modem. After crunching some numbers, I decided that buying my own would be more cost-effective. The standard big name electronic stores had modems, but priced a little rich for my taste.
Once again, Amazon has come through again! I found this modem for roughly half the price listed at the electronic stores and was very impressed with how easy it was to set it up. After a short call to my internet provider to swap serial numbers for my account, I was back online with minimal interruption to my internet. It's just as effective as the modem I was renting and at a fraction of the cost, a definite bonus in today's economy. Very pleased with this item.
