Works as described. So far after one month it has been a "set it and forget it" product. Amazing deal at $30 with free shipping.
Good buy for the price

I did not have any problems with it so far.
Setting up was as easy as it could be. Considering the price - it was a very good buy.
Ten minutes to set up and everything works great

Hooked it up and then spent 10 minutes on the phone with Comcast to get new MAC address registered. Everything works great. Hard to believe I have been paying Comcast $5 per month for years when I could get essentially the same equipment for a one time $30 fee. The old modem goes back to comcast later today.
Linksys Refurb cable modem

Reviewer: Kathy,
I ordered this product a few months ago to replace the rented modem I had from my cable company. I received the product within a few days. It looks and acts new. When setting it up through my cable company, the tech on the other end said that it had the strongest and fastest connection he'd seen for some time. It has worked flawlessly so far. For the "short" money I paid, it will pay for itself (not renting a modem for $5+ a month)in 6 months.
Already used with comcast, still received rental fee.

The comcast tech said that the modem serial number was linked to a rental modem, and I would still need to pay the $5/month rental fee. Why purchase this then....
Dangers of refurbished products

I bought one of these babies because it was by far the cheapest Modem I could find out there, and because with Amazon Prime, shipping is lightning fast. I have Comcast by the way.
It worked great for 4 or 5 days, and then a major Thunderstorm hit my area and there were a few power spikes. The modem just stopped working. None of my other electronic devices were affected (including my router, which wasn't connected to a surge protector, my modem was). I guess that the electrical current that killed the modem came from the cable jack, not the power supply.
I was pretty upset, but I bought another one from the same seller the day after (30 dollars is not worth the anguish of dealing with Linksys customer support), and this time I got a surge protector that insulates the power supply, as well as the cable input. Been running great for 2 weeks now.
Moral of the story:
Protect your investment, your internet depends on it.
Can't wait to return Comcast modem
Review Date: July 21, 2010
Reviewer: RockonPirates,
Just finished installing a refurbished CM100 on Comcast. Very simple to do. Call to Comcast just required the model and MAC. Sixty seconds later I was surfing again. Speed is either the same or a little faster. I was already getting 6 - 10MB download. After hanging up with Comcast I recabled my router back in and all computers are blazing. If you are paying monthly rental for modem I would strongly suggest buying your own. I can't believe I have been paying rent for at least 10 years. Yikes that was $3600. Do it now!
Great product at an extraordinary price!

Reviewer: Kamran,
I agree with the other reviewers here. The product is great, and it arrived on time (thanks Amazon and the sellers who were behind the scenes filling in for Amazon!). Called comcast, gave them the mac address of the modem, and bingo! I was online. I went to the Comcast store and returned their modem and saved myself the monthly lease fee of the cable modem of USD 5.00 per month (I did not know that they had increased the lease fees from USD 3.00 to USD 5.00 since Feb 15th of 2010!!!). The modem will pay itself off in four months. I have had comcast service for 5 years .. I wish I would have bought my own personal cable modem before and saved hundreds of dollars!

Bought a better modem and it was too much of a hassle to return it to the vendor who I would not purchase from again.
